Persistence is Key!
What do you do with an idea? YOU CHANGE THE WORLD!!!
I have no doubt these kiddos will! I have loved teaching this group of kids!
I am so excited! My class and I (and my GT students) have been working on an extension project and learning to think like Landscape Architects since the beginning of the year!
Growth Mindset
They have had to learn to overcome obstacles as we only received a portion of the orignal grant we proposed. Did we give up? NO!!! WE have a growth mindset!!! We are thankful to WEF for the $$ we did receive. Our PTO (along with garden club) has agreed to fund the rest of the project to REVAMP the front of the school landscaping!
Integrated Subjects!
We have studied water conservation, budgeting, hands on measurements, calculating area and perimeters, persuasive writing, presentation skills and how do think like architects. We even worked to learn TinkerCAD!!! I’m so impressed with these 3rd graders! So fun! And get ready for a beautified JWE!!!

Persistence Pays off!
We did not receive the full grant we needed for our project. This did not stop our students. We decided to have a growth mindset and figure out a different way to complete our project. Our PTO did a fundraiser and our class raised a lot of money. This extra money was what helped our PTO with their ability to help fund the rest of our project.
One of my Gifted and Talented students put together a presentation to present at the February PTO meeting.
My students really wanted to learn how to assemble these garden beds. They did such a great job!
Assembly of Garden Beds
Once the beds were put together, we added soil and added plants. Our local Ceremony Botanicals in Wimberley helped us pick out the cactus and succulents we added to our raised beds. .
